Lullaby Project, LMN
Having worked with Operasonic on the Lullaby Project before, when I was asked by Claire Cressey from Live Music Now to work on the project again with them, alongside Helen Woods, Angharad Jenkins and Nicole Boardman, I was absolutely delighted. The project, a ground-breaking initiative which aims to improve peri-natal healthcare and reduce health inequalities caused by economic, cultural and education disadvantage through the medium of music. Created by New York’s Carnegie Hall, the Lullaby Project pairs pregnant women and new mothers and fathers with professional musicians to write and perform personal lullabies for their babies to support maternal health, childhood development and family bonding.
Mums from Flying Start in Ely, Cardiff worked with Composer/Musician and Early Years Music specialist Helen Woods, supported by LMN musicians Angharad Jenkins (Fiddle/Ukulele) and Nicole Boardman (Mezzo) for six sessions to write their own lullaby for their child, promoting attachment, creativity and wellbeing. Four of the Mum's also sung on the recorded tracks. The Lullaby Project is an initiative of Carnegie Hall, New York delivered by Live Music Now across the UK.
