Cathays Brass

I was delighted to be asked by Cathays Brass if I would be able to work with them on an extremely exciting project!

A fantastic piece of music had been written by MD Matt Lush, for a project that had received funding from the Arts Council of Wales. We recorded each of the sections of the band individually to a guide click track due to the COVID measures that were in place and space restrictions. It was great to hear the piece come to life from the guide track that Matt had created. Each of the sections did a terrific job at recording their parts.

There's a rather big twist with the recording, and that is there is a German Wind Band also taking part in the piece! So, all of the project file was sent over to Matt after the recording and he is tasked with editing and mixing Cathays Band with the German Band, with a video being produced by Catherine Showell. I can’t wait to hear/see this epic performance - the piece is absolutely incredible, but I can’t give too much away!

The band are also on the hunt for a new conductor. If you think you've got the skills and enthusiasm to lead them in promoting community music making they'd love to hear from you. I can assure you will have a warm welcome, and there's even a bar under their rehearsal space! 🍻More information can be found on their website https://cathaysbrass.weebly.com/

You can keep up to date with all of the bands news and the project over on their Twitter and Facebook pages.
